Jacqueline Fernandez was born in Manama and was raised by the multiracial, mixed-ethnic family. Jacqueline's parents are Malaysian and Sri Lankan. Their father Elroy Fernandez is from Sri Lanka. There are two brothers younger than her as well as an older sister. The family have moved to Bahrain in the late 1980s as a result of the Lankan turmoil and her birth and education were in Bahrain. Following her education in Bahrain her family was granted a Scholarship to study at Sydney's University of Sydney, where she earned a diploma in Media and Communications in Sydney, Australia. With a love of cultures and languages she also took part in the Berlitz school of languages in which she was able to learn Spanish as well as improve her French and Arabic. Miss Sri Lanka 2006 was title in the month of March, 2006; she was also a part of Miss Universe 2006 Her first appearance on television was after she won the Miss Sri Lanka title. The show she hosts, Lanka Business Report, covers Sri Lankan business. Padukone's father is a professional badminton player Prakash Padukone. Padukone has had a childhood in Copenhagen and Bangalore. She played badminton at the national championships as young teenagers, however she decided to give her sports career up in order to be a model. Padukone was born in Mangalore, India. Her mother tongue Konkani is her mother tongue. Her lineage hails from Padukone village in Kundapura Taluk in the Udupi District in the state of Karnataka, India. The father of her, Prakash Padukone, is an old badminton player who is of world-class fame, while her mother is a travel agent.
